Any speculation why, other than the theory that > everyone knows they're nuts? S. Wise You just need to get on better mailing lists. I subscribe to the Aguda Israel e-mail news list and received their condemnation quite quickly. A quick check of the web finds a few more condemnations especially from Satmar (one of the only groups a reasonable person might have thought would have supported them) Leaders of the Satmer Chassidic sect released a statement Friday condemning the visit of a Neturei Karta delegation to Tehran last week for Iran's Holocaust Conference. Those who participated in the conference, which saw a panoply of anti-Semites gather to deny the Holocaust, "trampled on the memory of their ancestors and people. They embraced the disciplines and followers of their murderers," a statement by an official Satmer group said. Similarly, the Agudath Israel of America condemned the visit as well. "Neither the Neturei Karta's professed determination to protect the interests of Jews nor their hareidi garb can obscure the fact that all they accomplish is to offer succor and support to people who eagerly wish to do grave harm to Jews," a statement by the group said http://israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=117550 The anti-Zionist Satmar Chassidic court added its voice Thursday night to a call by Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger to boycott members of the extremist Neturei Karta Chassidic sect who participated in a two-day Holocaust denial conference in Teheren this week. The statement called on Jews "to keep away from them and condemn their actions," an order tantamount to placing the men in cherem (excommunication), similar to the call by Rabbi Metzger on Thursday. http://israelnationalnews.com/news.php3?id=117531 The Satmar Hassidism Court published an unprecedented statement calling on the public to disassociate themselves from the seven Neturei Karta members who visited Iran to attend the Holocaust denial conference this week. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3340592,00.html Leaders of New York's ultra-Orthodox Satmar community vehemently denied any connection with the Hasidim who participated in the Holocaust denial conference held in Tehran last week and met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. New York Satmar leaders, who usually avoid all contact with members of the media, on Friday took the unusual step of issuing a press release slamming the "reckless outcasts" who took part in the Tehran gathering. The statement said that through their participation these individuals turned themselves into Holocaust deniers and joined those who dismiss the extent of the murder and cruelty and diminish the number of the victims who were murdered because they were Jewish. http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/801763.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: SBA <sba@...> Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 23:54:20 +1100 Subject: Neturei Karta at Iran Conference > From: (Jeanette Friedman) > what about those lovely neturei karta and their chillul hashem. Phew! Calm down... Maybe this will help - a statement issued by our local Charedi kehilla regarding those maniacs. ADASS ISRAEL CONGREGATION PUBLIC STATEMENT The Adass Israel Congregation, a community founded by Holocaust-survivors, joins worldwide Jewry in publicly denouncing the nefarious and totally irresponsible handful of Jewish charlatans, who attended the recent "Holocaust-denial" conference of Jew-haters in Teheran. These individuals who have been depicted in local and international media embracing fanatical anti-Semites bring shame and pain to our people. We hereby reiterate and declare that Charedi/Chassidic/Orthodox Jews everywhere are disgusted and repelled by the treacherous and contemptible conduct of this deranged and reviled group of misfits and Mechallelei Hashem [desecraters of G-d's Name], who in their boundless and obsessive craving for publicity habitually raise their ugly heads and besmirch the reputation and honour of all observant Jews. We join communities the world over in denouncing them and fully endorse and applaud the severe sanctions and sharp condemnations that have been issued by every single major Charedi community in Jerusalem, New York, Antwerp, London and Manchester. Under no circumstances, should the behaviour of this rabble be associated with any other organisation or person. Nor should their garb and their calling themselves "rabbis" deceive anyone. In fact, they are an insignificant group of unemployed parasites, who represent nobody but themselves. They were ejected, for similar activities, decades ago from their local Shuls and communities. Regrettably this has not halted their ongoing treacherous behaviour and associating with our enemies, thus embarrassing and harming the reputation of Orthodox Jewry. They have persistently and blatantly ignored the demands and rulings of Rabbis and community leaders - who have no control over them. The Adass Israel community, which is made up of first, second and third generation Holocaust-survivors, cannot ignore, and will never forgive, the desecration of the memory of our Kedoshim by these self-hating Jews. We too call upon organisations and individuals everywhere to do all in their power to shun these pathetic individuals. These people who parade in the holy uniform of Eastern European Jewry mock the souls who were slaughtered "Al Kiddush Hashem" (sanctifying G-d's name) during the Shoah. We demand that they be banned from all Jewish communities and neighborhoods so this "cancer" is finally removed from our midst. In any case, they have been placed in cherem and will receive their punishment "after 120 years". http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3340592,00.html http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3339840,00.html http://jta.org/page_view_breaking_story.asp?intid=6063 Hillel (Sabba) Markowitz | Said the fox to the fish, "Join me ashore" <Sabba.Hillel@...> | The fish are the Jews, Torah is our water http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7637/544/640/SabbaHillel.jpg ---------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Ari Trachtenberg <trachten@...> Date: Mon, 18 Dec 2006 12:07:03 -0500 Subject: Re: Neturei Karta at Iran Conference The mainstream Jewish organizations have been appallingly silent on the entire Iran issue. My guess is that they're following the lead of the Israeli government in trying to maintain a low profile and let the world (which is just as threatened) deal with the issue. In my opinion, this is a dangerous approach that contradicts the halachah and our experience from WWII. To make a clarifying analogy (note: not equivalence), when, G-d forbid, a woman is being raped in a city, she has a *duty* to scream (and not just assume that people will realize the evil that is being done to her and come to her aid). The media's understandable attraction to arresting photographs and anomalous groups has led to an extraordinary level of public misperception regarding this handful of participants, who have made their way over the years to various events organized by Jew-haters and unrelenting enemies of Israel. To call these people a group is to stretch that term to its breaking point and beyond. They are a few disturbed individuals. They represent no one. Even Orthodox Jews who distance themselves from the ideology of Zionism care deeply about the safety of Israel and are revolted by these purported paragons of Orthodoxy. The time has come for the press to ignore them, and if the canons of journalism render this impossible, to depict them in the clearest terms as the utterly insignificant figures that they are. I saw of a number of them on the web. The Der Yid had a full page statement from the Satmar Beth Din (co-signed by the Satmar rebbe) denouncing them as well as several sharp articles and editorials on this. So did the Hamodia and others.
