Some members have asked about additional details, some are covered in the response. Sam was a very special person, and he touched the lives of a lot of people. That was very evident at the hespedim. Sam had a number of serious medical problems, but throughout everything, he was always upbeat and focused on the good that could be found in any situation. Sam had been in a car accident several months ago, and remained in great pain from that accident for a long time. About a month ago, he underwent a sergical procedure to try and alleviate the pain. Due to his weakened medical conditions, it was known that this was a risky procedure. Unfortunatly for all of us, Sam never recovered from the procedure. Sam passed away peacefully with his mother and two brothers at his side. He had been in critical condition for several weeks, having contracted several infections in the aftermath of a surgical procedure. The mail-jewish community knew Sam as the Purim spoof editor and his sense of humor was a trademark characteristic. He was also a fiercely loyal friend, a person of great courage who withstood many difficulties with uncomplaining determination, a committed Jew, a loving husband, father, son and brother and an extraordinary human being. On a personal note, he was instrumental in introducing me to my husband and making the shidduch. Zichrono l'vracha. May his memory be for a blessing.
